Help young people build confidence, resilience, and skills for life.
Taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives Explorer Scouts and Network members experiences they’ll remember forever. But none of it happens without adults stepping up to support them.
Whether you’re an experienced outdoor leader or someone who prefers keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, there’s a place for you on our expedition team.
How You Can Help
You don’t need to be a mountain expert to make a difference. We’re looking for friendly, supportive adults for a variety of flexible roles across our expedition weekends:
-
Behind the Scenes Support: Keep operations running safely behind the scenes — managing equipment, administering signups, and generally making sure everything is in place on the day.
Training Team Members: Help train young people to do their expeditions safely, by helping train them in camp craft, navigation, first aid, emergency procedures and everything they need to do their expeditions independently.
-
Expedition Team Members: Meet teams along their planned routes, monitor progress, and provide transport support when needed.
-
Expedition Supervisors: Guide and monitor groups as they navigate their routes, ensuring safety while letting young people lead the way.
-
DofE Assessors: Qualified assessors (or those working towards qualification) who observe and sign off qualifying expeditions for Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Why Get Involved?
Flexible commitment: Join us for a single weekend or support the full season—it’s up to you.
Full support & training: We’ll make sure you have all the training, PVG clearance, and guidance you need to feel confident.
Great community: Work alongside a friendly team of adult volunteers who share a passion for supporting young people.
