The overall distance is approx 200km. split over four days:

Day 1 – 27km almost entirely on forest tracks with 400m of ascent

  • Start – NY245998, carpark to south of Samye Ling Tibetan Temple
  • Take route to north of Romans & Reivers marked route
  • Campsite –  NT323055- grounds of Craikhope Outdoor Centre

Day 2 – 36.5 km on forest trails, and public roads with 500m of ascent

  • Travel on A7 for very short distance of 100m, otherwise avoid use of A roads, and use offroad routes when available and otherwise minor roads.
  • Campsite – NT531038 – wild camping in field on side of. route 

Day 3 – 47km on mix of public roads, off-road trails with 500m of ascent

  • Early part of route uses B/C roads and offroad tracks
  • Finish – NT784001 – car park  at Blakehopeburnhaugh
