Guidance on planning your route
You are expected to plan the route for your qualifying expedition. This is the information you need. Use eDofE to register for OS Maps, which you should use to plan your route. Helpful details about that are in the next lesson. Below you will find the grid references for the start and end points each day, as well as some intermediate points. Your route must go through start, intermediate and end points. For your route card, remember Destination, Direction, Distance, Description, Dangers. See the Navigation Foundations course for more about route planning. We need each team to send the finalised GPX files and route cards to expeditions@sesscouts.org.uk no later than 1 week before your Qualifier expedition. Remember we need 1 GPX file (from OS Maps) and 1 Route Card (from eDofE) for each day of your expedition – so 3 of each. We will issue you with the OS map sheets you need for the expedition, but we will not be giving you printed A4 maps with the route marked on, or route cards, so you must prepare and print these yourselves, working from eDofE. Due to safety reasons leaders have the right to alter planned routes and advise on alternatives.
