South East Explorer Expeditions (South East Scotland Scouts)

Last Updated: August 2026

Our Commitment

South East Explorer Expeditions (SEEE) is dedicated to ensuring that our website, online learning modules (LMS), and Expedition Management System (EMS) are accessible to all participants, parents/carers, and adult volunteers.

We aim to make our digital platforms as inclusive and user-friendly as possible, working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards and fulfilling our commitments under the UK Equality Act 2010.

Key Accessibility Features on This Site

To ensure a positive and straightforward experience for all users, we implement the following standards across our site:

  • Clear Layout & Hierarchy: Consistent page structure, logical heading orders, and straightforward navigation menus.

  • Readable Typography & Contrast: High-contrast text against backgrounds, readable font choices, and clean formatting to aid legibility.

  • Keyboard & Screen Reader Support: Core navigation menus, signup forms, and learning interfaces are designed to be navigable using keyboards and assistive technologies.

  • Responsive Scaling: Flexible page layouts that allow text magnification up to 200% on desktop and mobile viewports without breaking functionality.

  • Descriptive Links: Meaningful hyperlink labels that provide clear context on where the link leads.

Known Limitations & Alternative Formats

While we continuously work to make every part of the site fully accessible, some specialized resources may present challenges:

  • Topographical Maps & Route Cards: Some PDF downloads, GPX downloads, and route planning worksheets contain graphical mapping data that may not be fully optimized for screen reader software.

  • Third-Party Video & Media Content: Certain embedded training videos or external tools may rely on third-party interfaces with varying accessibility controls.

If you encounter difficulties accessing any training guide, form, or route document, please reach out and we will gladly provide the material in an alternative format (such as plain text, large print, or assisted review).

Reasonable Adjustments for Training & Expeditions

Scouting is inclusive and open to everyone. If you or your young person require specific accommodations or reasonable adjustments—whether for completing the online LMS preparation or taking part in practical outdoor expeditions—please indicate this on your registration form or get in touch with our team:

  • Visual & Reading Support: We can provide customized learning resources, route cards, and training overviews.

  • Medical, Physical & Neurodivergent Needs: We work closely with participants, parents, and local leaders to tailor supervision plans, kit adaptations, pacing, and expedition logistics to support individual requirements safely.
